The site is a compact one with the requirement of a 3bhk home for a family of 2 generations, along with provision for 2-wheeler parking inside the plot. It had one common wall on the west, while close proximity of surrounding houses on the north and south. The only effective open side was on the east.
Our first concern was to get maximum greens inside, deviating from typical lifeless cement boxes, while at the same time being vastu compliant. Care was taken that all spaces open or at least have visual access to a green patch.
The decision to put the kitchen at the front was taken so that the females of the house have a constant visual connect with whoever comes to the house, while at the same time maintaining a connection with the hustle of the road outside.
The internal spaces were configured in such a way that the entire space reads as one, enhancing the expanse of the house-making it feel grand.
The balcony on the first floor faces east, surrounded by a bed of green plants and creepers makes it an ideal space for a morning cup of tea, along with it being road facing making it one of the prime spaces in the house.
